December 1-January 8 2018 | Opening December 15 2017 6-9pm

The Connections Gallery is seeking submissions for our annual Emergence photography group show in December 2017. This twelve person group show showcases artists who are new to the gallery or have new work.

Four artists will be chosen by a jury to exhibit their work in Montreal in Spring 2018.

This show will also be advertised in the Winter issue of Canadian Art.

February will be the month of pop ups!

Featuring the images of photographers whose work is on site in the gallery, matted and ready for presentation, each show will be displayed on easels.

During the pop ups in February, the gallery hours will be extended on Thursdays to 8pm in order to accommodate later viewings.

Uncomfortably beautiful, large format panoramas of clear-cuts in Northern Ontario. Plexman presents these massively altered and rearranged landscapes not for what was taken away, but for what the loggers left behind, and how Nature reclaims and repairs the damage.

How did you start out photographing? 

When I was 11 years old, my sister gave me a plastic “Diana” camera for my birthday while our family was on a weekend camping trip to Pinery Provincial Park.  This was the start of my love for landscape photography- I had to go to the park gift shop twice to buy extra film.

What equipment do you use?

I use medium format Phase One XF camera bodies, with a 60 megapixel digital back and Schneider-Kreuznach lenses- some of the sharpest ever made. For my panoramics I have the camera mounted vertically on a Really Right Stuff pano head, and use either the Schneider 35mm or 55mm lens.  Generally, I capture at least 12 images, one every 15 degrees as I rotate the camera, resulting in a 180 degree view.
